A high-level Joint Technical PVOC Implementation Meeting involving Autoterminal Japan Ltd, Omanbapa Auto & PVOC Ltd and the Ghana Standards Authority has been successfully held in Japan on 29th May 2026 as part of ongoing preparations toward the implementation of the Pre-Shipment Verification of Conformity (PVOC) programme in Ghana.
The strategic meeting was chaired by His Excellency Francis Thalamus Doe, Acting and Deputy Ambassador of Ghana to Japan, underscoring the diplomatic and economic significance of the collaboration between Ghanaian institutions and international technical partners.
The meeting brought together executives, technical experts, and regulatory representatives to discuss key implementation frameworks for the PVOC roll-out in Ghana, including inspection systems, operational procedures, digital integration, and compliance standards.
During the session, representatives from Omanbapa and ATJ delivered presentations on the proposed PVOC operational structure, inspection framework, and software systems expected to support efficient verification and certification processes for goods destined for Ghana.
Speaking during the engagement, stakeholders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Ghana’s standards enforcement regime, protecting consumers, and enhancing the quality assurance process for imported products through internationally aligned inspection systems.
The meeting forms part of the broader Ghana–Japan technical cooperation initiative aimed at ensuring a smooth and effective deployment of the PVOC programme in Ghana.
Officials described the engagement as productive and forward-looking with expectations that the collaboration will contribute significantly to trade facilitation, regulatory efficiency, and improved compliance within Ghana’s import ecosystem.
