OMANBAPA and Ghana Standards Authority Begin Technical Visit in Japan Ahead of Ghana PVOC Roll-Out

The Chief Executive Officer of Omanbapa Auto & PVOC Ltd together with the Chief Executive Officer of Autoterminal Japan Ltd have officially welcomed a delegation from the Ghana Standards Authority to Japan as part of preparations toward the implementation of the Pre-Shipment Verification of Conformity (PVOC) programme in Ghana.

The high-level engagement marks the beginning of the GSA–OMANBAPA Joint Technical Visit and Audit in Japan, focused on strengthening operational readiness, technical cooperation, and inspection procedures ahead of the nationwide roll-out of the PVOC programme in Ghana.

According to officials, the visit forms part of broader efforts to ensure that imported products entering Ghana meet the required safety, quality, and conformity standards through internationally recognized inspection and verification systems.

The first day of the technical mission also witnessed the participation of the Acting and Deputy Ambassador of Ghana to Japan, His Excellency Francis Thalamus Doe, whose presence highlighted the importance of the collaboration between Ghanaian authorities and international technical partners.

Executives from OMANBAPA and Autoterminal Japan Ltd expressed appreciation to the Ghana Standards Authority delegation for the ongoing cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ghana’s trade facilitation, consumer protection, and standards enforcement agenda through the successful deployment of the PVOC framework.

The joint audit and technical assessment are expected to cover operational systems, inspection protocols, compliance procedures, and strategic coordination mechanisms required for effective implementation of the programme in Ghana.

Industry observers believe the partnership could significantly improve quality assurance for imported goods while enhancing confidence in Ghana’s international trade and regulatory environment.
