On 13 June 2025, the High Commission of Malaysia in Accra hosted a high-level strategic engagement with Mr. Bernard Oduro Takyi, Founder and Group CEO of Omanbapa Ghana Ltd, representing stakeholders under Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture, to explore collaborative opportunities under the Government of Ghana’s Feed Ghana Programme – RED GOLD Sub-Programme.

The meeting marked an important step toward strengthening bilateral cooperation in agricultural industrialisation, sustainable palm oil production, technology transfer, and long-term agribusiness investment between Ghana and Malaysia.

The RED GOLD Sub-Programme forms part of Ghana’s broader national agricultural transformation agenda aimed at revitalising the country’s oil palm industry through sustainable cultivation, industrial processing, value addition, and export competitiveness.

Discussions during the engagement focused on several strategic areas critical to the future growth of Ghana’s palm oil sector, including the development of a comprehensive National Palm Oil Industry Policy, the establishment and expansion of commercial palm plantations, and the advancement of industrial innovation and research within the palm oil value chain.

The engagement also explored opportunities for structured technical cooperation, capacity building, industrial knowledge-sharing, and strategic investment partnerships capable of accelerating Ghana’s transition into a competitive and sustainable regional palm oil hub.

Malaysia remains one of the world’s leading producers and exporters of palm oil, with decades of expertise in plantation management, downstream industrial processing, agritech innovation, sustainability standards, and export market development. The collaboration therefore presents a valuable opportunity for Ghana to leverage international best practices while developing local industrial capacity and empowering Ghanaian agribusiness stakeholders.

Speaking during the engagement, both parties acknowledged the significant economic and social potential of Ghana’s oil palm sector in driving rural industrialisation, employment creation, food security, export diversification, and sustainable economic development.

The discussions further highlighted the importance of responsible agricultural expansion, environmentally sustainable practices, farmer inclusion, modern processing infrastructure, and research-driven innovation to ensure the long-term viability and competitiveness of the sector.

Omanbapa Ghana Ltd reaffirmed its commitment to supporting strategic partnerships that align with Ghana’s national development priorities and contribute meaningfully to agricultural transformation, industrial growth, and international cooperation.

The engagement reflects the growing role of public-private partnerships and international collaboration in advancing Ghana’s industrial agriculture agenda while positioning the country as a future leader in sustainable palm oil production within Africa.

As Ghana continues to implement the Feed Ghana Programme and associated agricultural industrialisation initiatives, collaborations such as this are expected to play a critical role in unlocking investment opportunities, enhancing technical capabilities, and building resilient agricultural value chains for future generations.

Together, Ghana and Malaysia are laying the foundation for a stronger, greener, and more prosperous agricultural future driven by innovation, sustainability, and strategic global cooperation.
